It did come out with the last Premier N&W J's. Since MTH hasn't made any Premier Steam other then European for awhile who knows if they still will use it. It used a different type of memory then the normal PS-2 board and since they are doing all PS-3 now who knows. I haven't purchased any of the PS-3 steam engines yet so don't know if that is a feature on them or not.
thank you for responding Paul guess i will just have to wait and read the reviews when some are purchased.

It came out on my Triplex 20-3360-1 and works very well.
can you post a video of it in action?

The new PS3 boards will be flashable. They will not require the special boards to quill like PS2.
Dave
whenever I see the word flashable I think of a circuit board becoming toasted.
i am not real savy on that term but assume you mean things can be added somehow easily is that a close idea of flashable?

I recently operated one of the MTH European locomotives, PS3 Premier, and it was equipped with a quillable whistle.
Hi guys,
Most premier steam going forward will have quillable whistles. Railking engines won't get the feature for now. The main reason is cost in manpower. According to MTH's sound editor, Roy, it takes about two days to sample and edit the audio clips used to construct a quillable whistle. The standard whistle takes less than two hours to edit. Once they have built up a library of quillable whistles you may see them added to Railking engines.
With PS3 there is no limitation on which boards can produce the quillable whistle. If they make a sound file you like in Premier with the playable whistle you can load it into a PS3 Railking engine.
If you go to MTH website and click the service link, then documents link, in the search type quillable and all the engines with quillable whistle feature will show up. G
