MTH Railking Loco Stopped

Any chance some ballast could have fouled a gear?  Or perhaps a siderod installed improperly or too tightly?  I've had those happen to me before.

I run "unbalasted".  So I took it off the track, inspected all the side rods, and they were okay.  I put it back on the track, connected the tender, hooked up the consist, and fired it up.  And, it ran, again.  Must be some kind of Christmas Miracle.  Anyhow, I don't know why it stopped, and why it now runs again.  But it does, and that's what matters, and, for now, I'm a happy camper.

sounds like you had a tether problem and the connection was not locked in all the way, you might have not had it plugged in securely or your tether might need replaced!

I have had this experience and it was broken solder joint at the tether connection to the engine.

I agree with Alan that the the tether loosened and when placed back on the track the tether was fully connected.  It happens to me occasionally and that is the first thing I check.  It would be a good idea to put a piece of hose over the end of the tether post to keep it connected.

That is a PS1 loco.  If the chuffs play, but won't move, the two outer pin connections on the socket probably have a broken solder joint, or the yellow and white wires in the tether are broken.  The bad solder connection is more common.
