I was looking on the auction site and see some of the solid rail realtrax going for big money.  One auction with 2 days left is up to $23.00.  Is the value of this really gotten that high or is this some kind of fluke?  I get no performance issues from the hollow rail to pay that kind of premium.  I however do have a bunch of solid rail I could unload for a premium and replace it with brand new hollow rail and still come out ahead.

Any thoughts?

I don't know the sizes you see in that auction, but I've been watching eBay when I was considering using that for my Christmas layout. The prices I observed were around $30.00 for just a loop of O36 curves with (4) 10" straights solid rails. Then the shipping averaged $8 to $10 on that. I got a great deal from a guy I know locally for some fast trak so that's what I went with.

Gentlemen,

I do not really know where you are located but here in the Pittsburgh, Pa area the Greenburg Train show in Monroeville is coming up on the 18th and 19th of January.

Harry Neil and some of the other vendors will probably have that track for about 1/2 that cost, I know this cause I bought a bunch of it for under $20.00 last year for my inside loop of my Christmas layout.  Attend the show if you can, there are usually some really good deals to be had.
