Scott Smith posted some pictures of the new SD60E in the weekend photo fun, I couldn't help but notice a glaring omission. I appreciate that the manufacturers are producing a model th at is specific to one railroad. I know that most people are excited about the cab which is unique to NS, what I find interesting is the addition of a fan in the central air intake. Since the GP/SD35 there has been a raised dust bin as part of the air intake. During  the rebuild this disappeared and the fan is installed at the normal carbody height. Will MTH correct this omission?

There are plenty of pictures on www.railpictures.net

What say the rest of you that preordered? The perils of having to order based on CGI or a photo of an actual locomotive. I hope MTH steps up.

This is MTH's response from facebook: he Premier SD60e has a new tool crescent cab, side vents, and several other details that are unique to this Norfolk Southern rebuild. I just want to be clear that the MTH model shown is the same SD60e model styling shown in 2016 catalog. The only change from catalog image is the addition of more prototypical side vents and newer style MTH ditch lights. The SD60e is a very unique model exclusive to one railroad and currently has four paint schemes. The vent detail in question is unique to the SD60e not found on common SD60 or SD60m. A new body tool is a rather large prospect to create for a certain detail unique to a single model. The new MTH SD60e has multiple of new tooled details singular to this one model. It's just missing the one detail uncommon to other SD60 models.

I'm not sure I'm particularly interested anymore, since they're basically fessing up to making it wrong because its cheaper to do so.
