Many people, myself included, like to complain when things go wrong. Here I am going to pay a compliment. One of my son's MTH locos (very new-Christmas gift) died this week. Had a chance to drop it off at MTH service on Friday. They tried a few things while I waited, but it was still dead. (At least made me feel better in the sense that I am not an idiot with respect to troubleshooting.) Running errands today, get a voicemail message when I got home from MTH service that the locomotive is repaired and ready for pick-up -- something about a board. But I was very impressed with the turnaround. More importantly, so was my wife (she has a lot to say about expenditures on trains.) That type of experience does in fact help making one feel like less of a chump for buying these complex toys we all enjoy and makes me feel better about the product. In the past I have had positive service experiences with Lionel (youngest son sent a TMCC loco crashing to the floor, long story -- they got it fixed 100%, amazingly enough), this is our first with MTH and it was very positive.
