MTH SP Bantam RTR Engine won’t run

Hello, my engine stopped running. I’ve had it for years. After removing the body, I noticed smoke coming from the electronics unit in the area to the left of the 2 copper coils on a he bottom side of the circuit board (area shown in pic). I’m pretty sure it would need pro help. If I could buy the electronic assembly, I could take it out and plug in the new one. If it’s the battery, it is an Omron G5LE-1 9v. Can someone make a recommendation on this. I’m happy to send it to a dealer you suggest for service. Thanks. Steve

That is a relay, not a battery. The 9 volts is the coil rating. The contact rating is 10 amps, 250 volts AC.

Was the relay the source of the smoke?

Well here is the bad news. That's a first generation PS2 with the unreliable 5 volt board. These boards suffered premature failure due to a bad batch of capacitors (thanks China).

Your best bet is to replace the board with a PS32 upgrade kit which really should only be done by an ASC tech.
