I want to convert all my ps1 and ps2 steam to the straight plug so I can get rid of the loop. The Ps1 is not so bad but the the 10 pin plug for ps2 is one of the worst designs in model railroad history. Who has the straight tethers? Thanks John

Not really. Unless you have 072 or larger curves, the "straight" tether modification doesn't work very well, even after enlarging the tether hole in the tender. The "loop design" allows those folks with 031 curves to operate their steam locomotives without problems.
John,
If you order the right internal tether (inside the tender) and get a regular PS2 tether (external), you can just turn the external tether around. It is ten pin to ten pin. One end is 90 degrees, the other end is straight. It does look a lot nicer and some engines actually need a straight tether.
I don't know the part numbers off hand.

John,
Here are the part numbers and some photos.
Photo 1 is the internal tether. It connects to the PS2 boards and has a 10 pin female connector
Photo 2 is the 10 pin to 10 pin external tether. Straight on one end, 90 degrees on the other.
Photo 3 shows the 90 degree end (normally plugged into the engine) reversed, leaving the straight end for the engine.

Thanks guys, I have a couple of upcoming installations, I may need one of these if the standard ones don't work.
