Color me overly optimistic, but after several years absent from the hobby (but still with a large supply of MTH track) I decided to take a chance and build-out the 22nd Street Road and Rail with MTH switches.
I ordered 10 switches from MB Klein (5 right and 5 left O-31s) and am encountering a near-50% failure rate. WTF? (sorry). The points do not fully close against the rails, connections screws don't unscrew, and the plastic frogs require a slight rogering (British for "Dremeling") to keep my locos from bouncing as they pass through. The Dremeling of course renders the manufacturer's warranty void, but as I live in the middle of nowhere (outside of Laramie, Wyoming), a return and replace would take weeks.
TommyZ warned me about this and I should have listened to his repeated "rants" about MTH's decline.
In the meantime, I don't know what to do about the points. Would taking the switches off of track power and onto a dedicated power feed help?
