I have several MTH steam engines and have a serious problem with tether connection loosening. Of course they always have the problem in the far reaching parts of layout. Does anyone have suggestion on how to keep them connected

I assume you are talking about a PS2 wired tether. I do have one engine that this happens to but it only started after I had to install a new speaker and the amount of tether that resides outside of the tender was shorten by about a 3/4 of an inch and the problem only occurs on O31 track.
It's a rare problem and my layout is fairly accessible so I haven't taken time to investigate it further. I will also say that this engine is used a lot and the tether connector doesn't snap together as tight as it did when new.
This certanly is not a 3-rail scale topic rather it is asking specifically about MTH product so I moved it to the correct forum.
A lot of the issue is likely how large the "loop" is and how it's bent. Also, as mentioned, the connectors may be losing their grip, in which case replacing the tender tether would be the first step.
