hello everyone, like a lot before me I pressed to hard and broke the bracket that the thumb wheel sets in, so I called and talked to Midge and asked for the thumb wheel and bracket and she said they only had the brackets, so I got 4 of them, and they showed up today.i got the remote taken apart with no issues but thought I would slow down a bit , what is the best way to get the thumb wheel out of the old bracket ? Do I need to unsolder the small PC board that is on the side of the wheel ? What is the best way to get it out and into the new bracket. I thought it would be wise to take a breath and ask a few questions before I do something stupid and damage it, and I know from the past that this forum is a great source of very good information. So thank you all ahead of time.

Yep, you have to take it all apart to put the new bracket on.
Be very careful. The three wires that are soldered to the assembly make removal difficult to and replace after you unsolder them. The entire assembly is very fragile. A stupid design for replacement,
Bruce
I've replaced a couple of the brackets, it's a little tedious but can be done if you're careful. Obviously, a fine tipped soldering iron is a big help here.
So the 3 wires need to come off as well as unsolder in the other tabs on the PC board so that it comes off of the pins ?
Well that didn't go well, the center pin on the little switch broke off , so now I need that 3 pin switch that solders onto the PC board
weeeeeeee. Banner day
See, you had to be VERY careful.
Now you probably need a new thumbwheel.
Yaaaaa, if the thumb wheel comes with that little switch on it than yes, I talked to Midge earlier and all they have is the cradle, no thumb wheels or that switch in stock, possibly once the other folks take over but who knows at this point
I was going to send you an email but you don't have an email address in your profile.
