I am afraid I have another pesky question. This concerns an H-24-66 Train Master legacy diesel, 6-81209, which I just got new-in-box from a friend and collector. I found an engine memory module in the box. And there is a is a separate, add-on sheet that was tucked into the manual, talking about using a CAB-2 controller, indicating to insert the memory module into the Cab 2 controller, pressing INFO, and letting the data download, and then proceeding to address the engine by its road number, and proceeding to next steps, which I assume others have seen/read here, before. I am using Base 3 and a tablet with Cab3. There is no place obviously on the tablet for this module. Am I am to proceed by just setting this loco to Program, and then select and set a two digit-ID, and then return to RUN, just like i have been doing for everything else? Thanks/Alex

My advice- skip the module. If you did use it, you plug it into the base.
At best it just populates engine name and number and yes in the CAB2 days, the specific icons type to match the engine.
Cab3 database has more options including pictures of the engine. https://control.lionel.com/docs/eng-selection/
If you really want to use the memory module https://control.lionel.com/docs/memory-modules/
Specifically this here https://control.lionel.com/doc...modules/#4-toc-title
MEM with the Cab3 APP
- Insert the MEM module into the Base3.
- Connect your smart device to the Base3 and open the Cab3 APP.
- Connect the Cab3 APP to the Base3.
- Press ENG, enter the number of the TMCC ID you wish to write information to, and press Enter. Swipe UP to navigate to the Engine Configuration screen.
- Tap the “Load Module” button.
- Use the left and right arrows to navigate through the various engines saved to the MEM module. Once you find the engine you wish to import, tap “Load Engine”.
- Tap “Back” and then tap “Yes” to update the engine record. The engine information is now stored in the Base3’s database.
No, I really don't want to use the module and complicate things. If it works, I am happy to just set my own engine ID has I have been doing for later model Legacy, and go from there. There is a separate Odyssey On/Off toggle (don't have that in the others, but I presume I just leave that set to "ON"). I am basically new to Legacy, just resumed the hobby about 15 months ago, after a long hiatus and stuff packed away. So I was taken by surprise when I found this addendum page and the module in the loco box.
Again important concepts:
Changing/programming an engine remains the same. The engine stores nothing more than ID. Still program switch, ID command, and the all important "set" button command as last step. Switch to run to run.
CAB2 and CAB3 legacy database- a roster of all 2 digit (yes, 4 digit too) is all about what displays for that ID.
Memory module is again- engne number, engine name, type- useful info, and on CAB2 was a little quicker to enter that info into the CAB2 remote vs "typing" which on CAB2 was scroll letter selection process. On CAB3/BASE3 we have a screen interface or other options and pull downs for entering this data.
The physical Odyssey switch is for speed control. Yes, in most cases you want it on.
Off is mainly for special circumstances like conventional mode or testing in case of problems.
