Hi

I am new at this so please bear with me. This is what I have:

MTH TIU version G

Sabrent CB-DB9P

ZW-C transformer and MTH Z_4000

Train engines that I have PS1, PS 2, TMCC and Postwar Lionel

This what I want it to do:

I would like to run the my trains both of the MTH and Lionel via a laptop or smart phone app. I understand that you need TMCC or Lengcy part to be hooked up to the to the MTH TIU, which one is one of my my question.  Second question is can I both systems via the new WIFI MTH DCS system or do I need a separate WIFI for the Lionel part of the system?

Since both MTH and Lionel have or are coming out with the WIFI systems I thought this might be the right time to to go from conventional to computer control. I know that Lionel has an APP to control there trains via WIFI.

Any suggestions, comment or advise is welcomed.

I can't address the wifi issue, but others can.

By connecting your TMCC Command Base to the TIU with the MTH Cable you can control TMCC engines via the DCS remote.  Since the TIU has variable outputs you can use those to control the PW engines or any conventional engine such as PS-1, Williams, Etc.

The Fixed Outputs are good for the command only loops since you will have input voltage directly go to the output.

G TIU does not have internal fuses, but the ZW-C has great breakers on the Power Houses and Z-4000 will roll back Voltage and warn you on an overload.  I still would recommend some external 10amp fuses as a back up.

You really have a lot of options based on the transformers you have especially wrt the conventional engines.  G
