This may have been posted before but here goes.  As you know, MTH just did an uncatalogued  scale FM Train Master set in demo colors like Lionel did years ago.  This was a limited run of only 100 TM-1 and 100 TM-2.   I dumped the other set to buy this one and have nothing but great things to say about this set.  Here are a few pictures of TM-1 and TM-2.  The set is an early birthday present to me.

I have loved the Train Master since the first Lionel Lackawanna (used my paper route money to buy one) and the latest from MTH are real beauties.

If you remember, we were visiting your layout when the brochure came in. You were drooling over them at that time. Nice to see photos of the real deal.

Passenger Train Collector,

You took the words right out of my mouth!

I remember a little appliance store around the corner from the apt. building we lived in.

Lionel's FM Train Master Lackawanna diesel locomotive was on display, along with other Lionel goodies, in the window of the store for Christmas of 1954.

I would stop to look at the display, but especially at the beautiful Lackawanna F.M. T.M., on my way to and from school.

I was eleven years old then, but times were tough and my brother and I already had found out about Santa Claus.  Years later, I would hear about the same thing regarding Santa Claus, from one of my jobs, which I retired from!

Ralph,

The F-M Train Masters had different design phases.  Early phases (including all or some the Demonstrators) had straight handrails along the side platforms.  The picture of the CP Train Master on that Wikipedia link (which is the only surviving example) is a later phase where the contours of the handrails were altered to follow the dips in the walkways.

There are some other differences but the handrails are one of the main ones.

John,

My apology, I stand corrected, thank you, now I know better.

I did not realize that there were different phases.

I did try to find the F.M. Train Master Demonstrators, but for now, no such luck.

I will have to find my book on these beauties, which has a color photo. of a Demonstrator on the cover, as well, as color photos. of Demos. TM-1 and TM-2, in the book.

Take Care,

Ralph

Couldn't agree more, Marty!  Thanks for sharing the photos with us.

Marty,

Those Demonstrators are beautiful and thank you for posting the photos. and I see what John means about the level hand railing on the early Demonstrators.

After all of the years, which have past, I finally have a Lionel Lackawanna locomotive, but of a recent design, which I love.

All makes of these recently made F-M Train Master locomotives and the Lionel Post War models, are beautiful.

FM Train Masters - Demonstrators

I don't care either way, I just wish the Central actually took delivery of theirs so I could own a few!

Thanks,
