Hello,

Last night,  I installed the retrofit part in my MTH PS 3.0 Veranda Turbine so that the smoke emerges from the correct front vent.  The kit includes a cap to place over the small exhaust stack.  See photos.

The cap doesn't fit snugly; consequently, I can see that it will be very easy to lose.  In fact, I already misplaced it once.  How have you solved this problem?  For example, did anyone glue the cap in place so that the front smoke unit can be filled through the large vent?

Thanks for any recommendations that you might have.

I passed on getting this engine because of the smoke outlet issue when it was released. However I am familiar with the retrofit kit, which includes a tray-type arrangement to connect the turbine exhaust to the smoke unit. I think that the earlier version of this engine had something similar although the smoke unit position was different. In theory you should be able to fill the smoke unit through the turbine exhaust as the fluid should trickle down into it. However I don't imagine that this is as efficient as being able to access the smoke unit outlet directly.

If you are concerned about losing the cap over what was the original and wrongly placed smoke exhaust, I'd put just a tiny drop of White 'n Tacky or Elmer's on the rim to hold it in place but to be able to pull it free if/when you need to access that opening.
