I have been trying for days to bring up the MTH website on my I-pad. It’s like the site doesn’t exist. Has anyone else had problems trying to bring up the site?

It worked for me. Lets see what other people have to say.
Looks fine to me, I think the issue is probably on your end.
I just fired up my iPad, and it came right up on that as well.

Jim,
I assume that you are referring to the regular website and not the parts site. I just tried to access the regular website on my Chromebook and still no results.
Ron
No problem with the parts site either,…..loaded in seconds,…and I’m out in the internet boonies….☺️

I can access both sites on the spot right here on my Windows computer and my iPad.
John,
Any thoughts on what could be wrong on my end with both my I-pad and Chromebook doing the same thing? The MTH website address is still the same as it always was, right?
Ron
Sounds like you have a network issue and not a machine issue. Yes, the MTH websites are both the same as they've been for some time.
I assume you have a wireless router on some sort of home network? Your ISP could be having some DNS issues, it's happened several times to me for various sites.
Try rebooting the router first.
John,
I rebooted my router. All that did was cut my wife off from a phone call she was on. I checked more settings, turned VPN on, and can now access the MTH site.
Ron
Well, in time you'll be out of the doghouse for the dropped phone call, and now you can get to the MTH site.

Are you a Spectrum/Charter customer, by chance?
I always have problems accessing the MTH web site from home. It usually times out, without being able to establish a connection. I know it's not my devices or my router. I can also get on a VPN (via PrivateInternetAccess) and it comes up just fine. It's absolutely not a DNS issue, either, as I can resolve their web site IP address (67.43.12.109) from multiple public DNS servers.
This appears to be a routing problem, but I don't know for certain. A traceroute from my computer dies within the Liquid Web network. Liquid Web is also MTH's web hosting provider up in Chicago.

Just downloaded some sound files from the MTH site, and I was also on the parts site an hour ago. No problems at all.
To Up & Down the Monon
I have exactly the same problem that you describe. I am not with Spectrum/Charter, but AT&T. Today I tried to access the MTH website on my smartphone from a restaurant 10 miles from home. I was able to access it from there. I got home and tried to access it again with the smartphone. No luck! So I know that it’s not a router/Wi-Fi problem, but something that just doesn’t work from my home in Kaukauna. I can’t get the site with my smartphone, two I-pads, a PC and a Chromebook. I didn’t have any trouble for 15 years. Turning on my VPN on the I-pad worked just once. I’ve got to believe it’s something on MTH’s end. Don’t know if I will ever solve this mystery.

Ron, it's not MTH, it's your ISP, most likely they're having some IP routing issues in their network. This has happened to me a few times over the years with both Comcast and Verizon. I know that I fought with Comcast years ago for a month before they finally figured it out.
John, I tend to agree with you that my ISP is the issue. We will be switching to a different ISP later this month when the fiber optic cable is installed. I hope this solves this and other problems that I’m having.
One question though - why does it affect my smartphone which does not use the ISP service? My smartphone can access the MTH site in another city, but not at home.
Ron
It could be a more general issue with a local DNS server, it's hard to say. Whenever this has happened to me, just switching to a different path not dependent on the ISP solved the issue. Long ago, I was able to prove to Comcast it was their issue by using dial-up, so you know how long ago that was! More recently, I showed Verizon that if I used a VPN to escape from their DNS servers that suddenly the sites I was trying to access worked fine. I was also able to access them from a T-Mobile phone. They took the hint and fixed their network.
If DNS is suspect you could always switch your router (or computer adapter) to use one of the public ones like 1.1.1.1 (Cloud Flare), 8.8.8.8 (Google), or 9.9.9.9 (Quad9, Swiss).
Unfortunately, it's probably more likely that it's a problem with routing, it's easy to see if you're getting the right IP address for a URL. However, the internal routers for the ISP sometimes get corrupted routing tables that leaves whole subnets as orphans.
I am having the same issue trying to access Mthtrains.com.
it works for one day, then going down for 1-2 weeks. This has been going on for passed 6 months
I have Comcast service and they traced the problem for me. It’s failing at liquidweb.com, the server that has the Mthtrains service. They told me that I need to contact them.

I can't say I go there a lot but when I do, and just did check, it has worked for me just fine.
Works fine for me, problem is likely on your end.
Here's another situation I'd like to let fellow modelers know about. Several months ago, AT&T (who was my DSL provider) upgraded my neighborhood to fiber optic cable, and, shortly thereafter, I started receiving "warning" letters that they were going to shut down DSL service (but not my phone service). I thought this was just a "marketing" gimmick, so I ignored the letters.
Well, the "shut down" date came and went without occurrence, so I thought I had guessed correctly. Then, one night about 2 weeks later, my internet was gone and I received a message that my account had been "suspended."
WARNING!! I was told that if I did not access my old AT&T e-mail addresses within 30 days, all of that info would be permanently lost. This apparently applies even if the account is not "suspended."
I was also told that my account suspension could not be reversed, so I decided to change internet providers. That worked fine except that I still could not access my AT&T e-mail. Called AT&T again and was told my account had to be "terminated" before outside ISPs could access my AT&T e-mail. I did that and now everything works well enough, but I'm not real happy with my new "wireless" provider and may be changing services again soon.
For those of you using AT&T, just another potential headache to be prepared for.
