My MTH WIFI system is and has been working fine.

All engines to date have loaded without issue including Legacy.

I have a 20-20302-1 Genesis Diesel PS3 that will not load via the WIFI system using my Android tablet.

However, it will load using the MTH Remote.................???????????

Any thoughts on why this is?

We need more information:

  • What version of the Android app do you have?
  • What version of the WIU firmware is installed?
  • What version of DCS is in the TIU?
  • Is the WIU in MTH mode or Home mode?
  • How is the WIU connected to the TIU, via the USB port or the serial port?

Also, please describe exactly how you're attempting to add the engine and exactly what was the app's response.

Some questions:

  • Have you ever been able in the past to add this engine to your DCS App? If so, are you absolutely certain that the engine isn't already in the DCS App's engine roster?
  • Are you able to add other DCS engines to the app when they're placed on the same track where this engine won't add?
  • Can you add this engine to a DCS App running on a different device?
  • Do you have more than 1 TIU/WIU combination?

It makes little sense that all of your other engines add to the remote but that only this one won't add to the app.

I know Barry ....that is why this is so odd.  A NORD and a BERK, both PS3 and premier loaded at the same location with no issues.  Even my HO PS3s added without issue.

It is not in the engine roster

As I mentioned earlier.....this engine loaded  fine into the remote and runs perfectly that way......but will not load into the WIU.

New info Barry.

I tried other engines I have that have not been added yet to the WIFI network and those will not add either.

I can run and use all the engines presently in the tablet both MTH and Lionel, but I cannot LOAD any new engines. 

I can load new engines via the remote but not via the MTH WIFI set up.

Well I'm at a loss.

I have re-booted everything.  Matched my router (home) with the WIU....all confirmation lights come on.  Made sure my tablet was updated.  Turned everything off and back on.

I even "reset" (pushed the little botton) the WIU and started over.

Nothing helps.  I don't know when this event began to happen and the only thing different I did was upgrade my MTH TIU and Remote to 6.10.  Not sure if that would have any bearing on anything.

All was working perfectly....................

Thanks Guys....On my initial set up I could not get a response in MTH mode so I switched to HOME and all went well.

No other devices to try........I guess I am one of the few who refuses to have a cell phone.  Family members have ceased to remind me of this ......and live with land lines, email and visits.  After all I'm retired and plenty accessable !!!!

Dave, I think this has something to do with how your WIU is communicating with your Home Router. Something in that wireless connection is blocking or delaying the communication to tablet about adding an engine.  Now as why that changed when it worked before is a bigger mystery.

Try this if you want: Switch back to MTH mode, power down the WIU and unplug your home router. Next, plug your home router back in and power up the WIU. See if this problem persists.

Or stick with MTH mode and enjoy your trains!

I hear you Dave about the cell phone. I work in the computer field but still have a basic phone (I do carry a Verizon tablet with me everywhere I go).

I prefer hardwired connection as they are so much more reliable. My WIU's are in MTH mode but are hardwired to my home router. I would recommend this to anyone seeking a more reliable connection with less wireless stuff to worry about. 

Presently trying to use the MTH WIFI option.

Status says.......Authenticating.........but taking way too long so something must be wrong.....again

Number 8 was to have been the Vision Line Box car with sounds. Just did not have time to continue at the time and planned to return to finish the name.

However...............................................

I guess I will have to get another device in order to continue to trouble shoot this ....

Okay.....I'm divorced from the HOME network and using MTH.

I can run existing engines in the tablet roster just fine.

NOW -----here is the really odd part............

I can delete an existing engine from the tablet roster AND re load it successfully.

But introduce a new engine....never having been in the tablet roster ever....and IT WILL not load.

App Settings:  "App Support" - will take you to MTH Wi-Fi Tech Support, this will take several business days.   "App Reset"  Will put you back to day one: I have never done this. You will lose all your locos.

3 MTH WiFi APP Help Desk

This is there on line DCS App Contact Form, I use a direct e-mail to a company rep. or call.

I did the 6.10 DCS Upgrade & v2.0.2 to the APP this past Wednesday. I have over twenty locos in the APP, both MTH and Lionel.  I been testing and running the APP the past three nights, I have found no issues to report.  At this time.

I am having issues adding engines to my remote and iPhone.  Mostties no engines will add and later I look and engines are in inactive.  I can not get inactive engines into active status.  I’ve deleted all engines in inactive and renter them and some will add and some won’t I try entering in My remote and a few will add and some don’t.   I have the premium package but wonder if that works since I check purchases in my iPhone andit comes up none but I have had four engies in my iPhone.
