I purchased an MTH Z-4000 transformer to power an 8x16 layout with two main lines that is now under construction. With respect to the two fixed accessory outputs, I have a question. One is 14V and the other 10V. I have noticed that in most cases, it is indicated that accessories require 14v to operate reliably. In what application(s) would the 10v output be preferably utilized? Street lights perhaps? Just curious. Thanks.

Lights would be a good application. Do be aware that both of these fixed outputs have a very limited capacity. If you are running a lot of accessories or incandescent bulbs, you are likely to exceed the power available from these outputs. This results in the breakers next to the banana plugs tripping. You can either reduce the power load, or use an older ZW or KW for a power source. Be certain to phase the transformers.
