Cool!
Great photos! It is always refreshing to see how we were when we were young and in our relative innocence focused on the enjoyment of what we had right in front of us.
Love the pictures. I thought great bench work........... but I see someone else commented on it. Still love it though. There is nothing quite like kid engineering........... Thanks for sharing.
You are so lucky. I don't have a single photo on my first layout, only memories - which are, I am sorry to say, a bit fuzzier than I would like.
Hello Spence
Photos such as those you posted are truly priceless. They remind me of those days when life was much less complicated.
My first set was not even a set. I had one HO center cab GE diesel and a passenger car. As well as a tunnel and one oval set upon an old dining room table my parents did not want. I spent hours/days dreaming of railroads and engines. When you're 6 years old, you tend to dream big with a small budget. LOL
Anyway, It was fun. Now its soooooooooo serious. LOL

It looks a whole lot like my layout from the same time period. Brings back good memories -- thanks for posting.
Spence, your photos are really nice and bring back a lot of wonderful memories I am certain to not only you, but to many of us. You were very fortunate to have such a nice layout, trains, and accessories to play with. Thanks for posting these great pictures.
I love seeing old pictures like these, perhaps we should start a weekly "Throwback Thursday" post where folks can post their old pics? I've got a good one at home of me with some HO trains and army men which I need to scan. I hope I can find some pics of our old Lionel trains somewhere one of these days.

Spence, how fortunate you are that someone cared enough to take those photos. And I congratulate you for keeping them all these years. Very, very nice.
Rich, I like your idea. If everyone is like me though, there is nothing to contribute. The scenes are all in my mind, like Lee.
I've posted the 1st. picture before but just found another one taken 4/24/1959. It's on a 4x8 piece of??? It wasn't lumber but looked like homosote. Don't know if that was available back then.
It was on a big piece of Asbestos probably.

figured out how to solve a twelve hour problem in 20 minutes. Then stopped, went down and relaxed. I can do it tomorrow.
