I figured I post the video of my layout before it gets taken down and boxed up till next Christmas. Camera work is not that great but it was a little hard trying to shot video and keep an eye on 7 trains running with no one at the controls.

Thank you for sharing your layout with us. To bad you have to tear it down. You have some real nice post war trains. I enjoyed watching your layout.
That's plenty of time and effort to tear it all down... Relive the fun again next year..Nice job!
Enjoy!
WOW, great PW layout. It must take a lot of space just to store everything when you tear it down.
I like your multi-levels and many train routes. Thanks for the video.

Excellent layout. I wish you kept the camera on the consist of the trains more, so I could get the full enjoyment. But, still a nice video.
Best,
Mark
Great postwar layout. Can't believe you deconstruct it! Can't you just throw some sheets over it to protect it through the summer? Where do you store all that stuff?

The great thing about temporary layouts is that you get to change it around in the rebuild. Mine should be close to finished in a few more weeks. It will come down in June and I will have not regrets as in building this one I already know what I want to to next year.
Excellent primer on Postwar Paul!
Why do you tear it down? It is in the basement, why not leave it up all year?
Thanks for the compliments. I would like nothing more than to have some portion of the layout up all year but I just don't have the space. The basement doubles as my shop and with an older house there is always something needing fixed. I'm hoping once we get the current house projects squared away to maybe add a couple dormers to the attic and convert that into a train room. The layout won't be quite as big but with it being up all the time I wont have to try to put as many trains on the track at the same time as I do now. With packing it up every year I try to have the option of running as many of my post war sets as I can. With a train room and everything displayed I would be able to swap them out to a shelf
I've gotten pretty good at packing it all away. All the scenery gets put in a storage room/coal cellar under the front porch and all the trains, track and accessories are in the main basement packed under the steps and on a couple shelves. The platform all comes apart with the frame pieces stored in the rafters and the plywood gets leaned against the wall. Taking it down usually can be done in less than week
Not sure if any one noticed but with the exception of the 2 trains being pulled by a K-Line FM and the tuscan GG-1 all the trains running are Lionel sets. A few trains are actually a combination of the different sets offered in a certain year but which would have been pulled by the same engine.
