Great story beautiful gift for your Dad, I'm sure he'll get tons of enjoyment running the trains.  Steve and TMB guys are top shelf.

Great value Alex. I've found that nothing has helped keep my parents entertained and engaged more than the train displays scattered around our home. Dad passed away three years ago at 87 but was enjoying the trains to his last day. At 90 Ma is still enjoying our modest displays. They are a wonderful tool to battle the indifference that accompanies our aging process.

May your Dad enjoy his new layout for many many years!  Real nice picture of your Mom & Dad with the train layout!  Give anything to have mine still around to take another picture with our trains.

Great post! Of special interest to me because I may be looking to downsize to a townhome  w/o a basement and that looks like a nice smaller sized layout I could live with - fits right in a loft.

 

Super story!  How can anyone here not feel wonderful after reading about it?  It's a fabulous example of what is right in the world, when we're otherwise bombarded by news that isn't so right.  Very heart-warming, and a perfect start to my Saturday (after walking my dog, that is.).   Treasure the time you have with your parents!

Very nice story.  Great layout.  Glad it found a nice home (I remember seeing on the for sale forum).  I remember meeting you and your dad at York in 2012 (?).  This is a great story with a fantastic ending.
