It has been thirty two years ago today that I started my layout.  I started the bench work and the first train  ran Christmas eve of the same year.  Many changes have been made and many wonderful people have visited.  I want to thank all the good people who have visited the layout and supported me.  When I first started I was working the 4pm to midnight shift.  I would come home from work and work for a few hours.  Sometimes I would see the sun come up.  I have hosted many convention tours and the layout has served as a test bed for TMCC and DCS for OGR articles.  As long as I still have steam, the layout will keep going forward.  Any OGR forum member who might find himself in the area is always welcome to stop by and I will run trains for you.

I want to thank the OGR staff for all the support they have given to myself and the layout.

Marty,

Time zips by...   It seems like I just started my layout.  But, it has been around 8 years now.   Working 6pm to 6am with 3 on and 3 off the last 7 years, leaves little time for the layout.   Family and sleep come first.  Your great layout is on my list. (just 2 hours away) My son Ian and I would love to see your South Station in person.  Maybe sometime this year?   We are due for a trip to Ikea soon.

Thanks and happy B-Day to your layout.

Marty, you are THE BEST. I am so proud to be able to call you a friend.

Not only is the layout spectacular, but you are spectacular. One of the greatest things about this hobby is the wonderful people you meet and develop friendships with. As train enthusiasts, we can develop friends through train clubs, meets, house invitations, etc. A lot of it is geographic. Being in the NYC area, there are a lot of really great people not all that far away. But Marty is truly special.

Marty, keep the wheels lubed, the track clean, the smoke fan oiled and the smoke chamber filled.

Gerry

Marty Old Friend and indeed you are an old Friend. Keep the Shiny side up and the Dirty side Down and Keep on going cause that is what it is all about. No Matter what may come your way you can always Trust to all of us to be by your side whenever you may need it I want to wish Your layout a Happy Anniversary and wish you many many many more years of enjoyment of the hobby that you so love and are so devoted to

Best wishes My Friend

Marty,

Congratulations on the anniversary of your layout. As Gerry Morlitz already said, you are the best-as is Dotty and your feline Ralph. I too am proud to call you

guys my friends.

Thank you for all your help through the years.

I spoke to Marty last night and remenbering that today was the anniversary of his layout, wished him the best. I recently invited myself to vist Marty's layout, Dotty and Ralph. If Marty is there, that's okay too

On a side note, Ben (Bluelinec4) has been inhaling too much smoke fluid (probably marijuana scented smoke fluid) for thinking he is younger  than 32. May be if you double it (Ben,that's 64 since you probably can't do the math), you will remenber your correct age.

Al K., at least you know that Ben has been dreaming, in addition to inhaling too much smoke fluid.

Erol Gurcan

Marty's Dotty's and Ralph the Cat's friend

Congratulations Marty!

You and Dottie are such gracious hosts of your phenomenal layout. We really enjoyed the time you took (during a difficult period) to have us over for an evening of pure fun and great conversation.

Thank you (and your layout!) mfor all of the contributions to our hobby, including the testing of the modern control systems.

Tell Ralph that Chris hopes to come back soon!

Take good care, and hopefully we can host you one day.

Best regards,

Bruce (and Chris)

Hi Marty,

Congratulations to my GREAT FRIEND

Marty is one of the most generous, kindest, friends I know. He's a HUGE asset to this hobby. I'm honored to know him, and work with him everyday. He's also one heck of a funny guy, we joke and laugh just about everyday. Marty is what I call the go to guy, he like an Encyclopedia in this awesome hobby. Marty looking forward to seeing you and Dottie at my get together.

ONCE AGAIN CONGRATULATIONS TO A GREAT GUY

Alex

Ben told me he didn't inhale!

(32) dates to 1992 (1982) which pre-dates a lot of the Command systems that, IMO, seem to be, at least center stage, in the industry today.  The word "Conventional", probably didn't apply.  Most would not understand, or even care to understand, Block operation of multiple trains.   Changing world.

Opps, Noted correction 1982.  Almost before electricity.

Congratulations Marty. 32 years of fun running trains on the same layout is quite an accomplishment. Imagine if the trains that run on your layout could talk! What would they say? I think the trains would say they have a great life under the management of a great couple, and they are well cared for.

Happy anniversary and I wish you many more years of railroading fun.

I want to add my thanks, also, from me and Ralph. Being a part of Marty's life AND Life of Railroading plus having all you great friends is more than anyone could hope for in their lifetime. The layout is, indeed, a labor of love. The more we do, the more ideas we have for more things to do. Of course, the second  best part of it all is sharing with all other Trainiacs.

Mike CT- Dates to 1982!

CATenary Inspector at work...

This is how Ralph likes to watch trains run. I carry him around so he doesn't lose sight of them as they go under the foyer and around the layout.

My father a Navy man like Marty and my son Mike;Use to say "Most people in your life will be more acquaintance's true friends are harder to come by"  Marty is one of those "True friends" Marty is always ready to help weather it's trains or anything else. I call Marty on the phone and I get the "I'm here, come on over!

Congrats on your 32 year mile stone my friend. Here's to 32 more!
