I "motorized" the Lionel 460 Piggy Back Transportation Set from 1955-57 & 1961. The set originally had manually operated controls for lifting and rotating the forklift. I didn't have room on my layout for the footprint of the platform, so I cut off the ramps and manual controls. I used two 10 RPM miniature geared motors and pushbuttons for CW, CCW and Up-Down. Here is the video:

Great job. Glad you do not have the mini fork lift driver.😏
David, that is very cool what you’ve done with the 460 Piggy Back. I have one of those, not on my layout.
Remarkable.
David, Lionel should make this and provide some reimbursement to you.
Mine works ok manually but nowhere near as smooth as yours!
Great !
Thats brilliant Dave. Good to have you back. I have to ask, what engine was pulling that train? That was way beyond a growl.

Pete, It's great to be back with the train world. The engine is a Lionel 520 Boxcab (1956-57), it's quite a growler.
That's a cool mod, I'm very impressed.
I was amazed that you could position the conventional locomotive that well both times, nice driving.
Definitely a postwar growler.
That’s awesome.
