Left side is the main line..The other side was gonna go to the  freight yard it ran threw it and threw the main going very slow. It gets about half way threw the Y at cruising speed  then  the front scale wheel just jump it.. I will get a curve switch and try ..I just assumed someone has had to do it this way ..

Oops, I don't know my right from my left anymore. I'd like to blame it on all the drinking I did last night, but I didn't have any.

Yes, an 072 RIGHT is what I had in mind. Standard rule of thumb, there should be a minimum of straight track, between opposite curves, of one car length, equal to your longest car.

I really think you don't want or need a curved switch there. That will only preserve the S curve. You need to come off straight and realign the diverging track. It will be a lot smoother.

I'm going by the photo you posted. It looks like you have room to move it back toward the top of the photo (the point end of the existing wye). Then the straight leg would be aimed more toward track you are trying to connect.

Can you post a pic taken a little further back so I can see more of the surrounding area? I'm not sure if I'm missing something here.

I just put a regular 0-72 switch in there and nothing has a problem. The cross in the switch is more towards the front and it runs threw no problem... That is  where it was jumping off. Lee i love the scale wheels on my hudson and my challenger ... I will never removing them if i have a choice... I got what your saying bigboy  maybe i will try that ..

It is probably just me but I do not seem to have any luck using Y switches.  Everytime I have place them in a track plan, they become my number one problem area.  (That is why I will not use use one).  I have had very good success using Ross's curved switches or a o72 or larger right hand switch should work fine in your application.

Good luck and happy railroading,

Don

It did and your right ...And everyone thanks for the help

jojofry;

Glad to hear you got it under control.

Don;

I have a large figure 8 with wyes on both ends of the center cross track. they do not give me trouble but I think I know why. They are back to back with a long straight in between.  Wyes are more trouble than normal switches because you are always diverging one way or the other, no straight thru shot.

Take them slow with a good long straight befor you hit them and the problems are much reduced. I have not had a derail in the last year of so on my Wyes.

Now that pesky O-31 left with the immediate right curve off it, that gives me trouble. (I really need to pony up and buy the right hand switch that should go there, Or just get on with the Layout rebuild to around the walls)
