Mystery Postwar 675 Boilerfront

I don't Believe that 675s came with four wheel rear trucks and I have never seen that boiler front.Does that engine have magnetraction,that wheel type might be from 1952.

It's not Lionel's doing.  It appears the original owner removed (cut, ground, filed) the original headlight off and put another one on.  Probably either a Lobaugh or All-Nation part.

Apart From the Boilerfront, I believe she is all original. This is a G-Variant engine, to quote from Tandem-Associates website "This variation was issued in 1952, during the Korean War, and does not have Magnetraction. Nor does it have the "Baldwin Disc" driving wheels that were on the previous issues. The main driving wheels are spoked, there is a four wheeled stamped sheet metal trailing truck, and it came with a No. 2046Wtender that had bar-end trucks with one magnetic coupler. This variation is slightly harder to find". It explains everything except the different Boilerfront

That makes sense! Frankly, whoever did it, I'm glad they did! I LOVE the look of it. Looks so much more like a real K4. Thank you for your input! Hopefully some other forum members can confirm this hypothesis

That's not the original headlight.  Definitely a separately-bought detail part and then attached to it.  The closeup shots you have confirm that - Lionel's original had a much "neater" look to it where the headlight is, since it was a single casting.  This one was attached after the original had been removed.
