Well, having gotten my question answered on Belpaire fireboxes, not to my

satisfaction, as few other roads ran them, even used from the Pa., I am gonna

risk asking what roads, several in the Northeast, obviously, ran Northeastern

cabooses, originally and used, and did other than the Pa. (and its relatives, like the Long Island RR,) run N5C's?  I'd guess more cabooses wound up used and traveled than the locos. ("Santa Fe All The Way" on the side of either of

the above makes me cringe)

i'll let the northeastern enthusiasts field this one, but...

The Illinois Central Gulf bought a couple of ex-Pennsy N8 cabin cars.

An no Santa Fe caboose had "Santa Fe All the Way" on it.  Santa Fe cabeese were simply painted mineral brown with ATSF and the number on the side until the red with large cross herald appeared in the late 60's early 70's.  (I'm a little foggy on the date)

I have not seen any photos of N5Cs on other roads than PRR.   However, it would be logical that the LI would have them possibly.

On the other hand, the N5 and N5B seemed to travel around a little more.   LI definitely had them.    And the B&M defintely had a version.    Also at some point a short line in Johnstown, PA that I can't remember the name of had 4-5 I think.

I think it more likely that you might find the older ones on shortlines - the N5 and N5B being older ones.    The N5c and N8 were the last built and probably stayed on the PRR lines until cabooses were retired.

This does not included the mergers for PC and Conrail.    I don't know which ones moved on into that era.   I have seen N5c and N8 in PC paint, and N8 in Conrail paint.
