Has there ever been any O Guage engines made in the N&W Tuscanish red paint scheme? Saw this awesome painting on Facebook and think it looks sweet!

As far as I know, Lionel has been the only one to do a red GP9 in 3rail, but, that isn't saying much. The GP9 that they used was the cheap stamped frame version that barely looks like a GP9. Back when Atlas did their GP9 I was hoping that they would come out with a passenger version, but, that hasn't happened. They didn't produce many of the freight versions either.
Lionel did. SKU 8266.

YES! MTH made a scale Rail King (30-2689-1) version which is correctly road numbered no. 510 (in the series).
And OH, we have one in service here at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer.
I have the Railkings-they are the best offered in these thus far.

Hmmmm...Looks like an SD9 to me. And check out the roof that is not round.
Lionel played things fast and loose with the GP body back then by making changes to the fans, cab, nose and calling them whatever they felt like. For example if it had a low nose, the GP7 suddenly became a GP20. Put 6-wheel trucks under it and it became an SD18.
It was a way of offering variety without a huge investment in tooling and the market was less concerned about accuracy back then.

Since I model N&W in the 1950's decade, I have collected several of the Redbirds from different manufacturers. The MTH versions from 2006 are the best I've seen. They are #510 (powered w/Proto2, Model 30-2689-1) and #515 (dummy unit, Model 30-2689-3).
Lionel issued two versions, #507 (1999, Model 28800) and #502 (1995?, Model ?).
Williams made a GP7 Redbird #620 with a single can motor and a GP9 (also #620, GP-9-213) with dual can motors and True Blast horn & bell.
The last photo (#501) is of one of two MPC era Geeps that I repainted and decaled.

IMTH set these up for short hood forward. Which is the way I see it run at the museum. MTH also only put one crew member in the cab. There are no operating class/marked lights. But it is PS-2 3v so lights could be added.
I found mine in storage so here are a few quick snaps.

Yeah Ron, I was a little disappointed that they didn't set the engine up for long-nose forward starts. I'm going to take the shell off (again) and see if the windows/engineer figure can be easily swapped. MTH didn't put lights in the dummy unit either though I was able to locate a kit for that.
The engineer figures are an easy swap. Just pry the guy off, but you will need another figure to put in his place.
If anyone has a MTH 30-2689-1 that they would like to part with I'd like to have one. I don't see any in the secondary market.
Didn't Lionel do a red N&W Trainmaster too???

Williams did.

But I don't believe that there were any "redbird" Train Masters. Only the GP9's to replace the 4-8-4's.
