Today is National Train Day!
Even though spring is finally here, and we all have a ton of work to do outside, make sure you take time today to celebrate trains!

I wish I could go see real trains at a local museum but didn't know ahead of time. I guess i'll be celebrating with my o gauge models.
You can look up local NTD events here.
Here in Pittsburgh, Amtrak did have a celebration (if you can call this a celebration). Really, Amtrak COULD DO BETTER.

Well I didn't get to celebrate NTD yesterday but today we are taking the kids to Day Out with Thomas and tomorrow me and the wife are taking the Amtrak Wolverine to Chicago to celebrate our 10th anniversary.
This was the 1st year is a while that I didn't get to celebrate. Life got in the way this time. But I'm okay with it since I was able to go to my local rail museum's 30th anniversary in March. Besides, it's about 100 outside in May here anyway.
GREAT day, National Train Day.
I think we need to promote the day more ... along the lines of St. Patty's Day or Cinco de Mayo.
I can just taste the locomotive-gray beer served in a caboose-shaped schooner topped by a little chunk of dry ice to get some smoke.
Has some promise ... and National Train Day will be infinitely more popular.
