Dear All:

This years National Train Show is being held at the Cleveland Convention Center, Exhibit Halls B and C.

The Cleveland Convention Center is located at 300 Lakeside Avenue E, and is open to the public on:

Friday July 18   Noon to 6:00PM

Saturday July 19  10:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Sunday July 20 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

There are quite a few modular layouts of various scales there, as well as manufacturer's displays.

Here is a link to the NTS web site:

The Independent Hirailers Midwest Division are travelling for Illinois and Indiana to display our layout at this event.  Stop by and say Hello if you come out.

In keeping with the area, there will be a fair amount of New York Central equipment running courtesy of NYC Jim and Hot Water.  The rest of us will be running equipment from roads west of Chicago.

Regards,

Jerry Zeman

I'll be heading up to Cleveland for the NMRA National Convention in just a few hours.  I have been to a good number of NMRA conventions in the past, and thoroughly enjoyed each one.  Looking forward to the Age of Steam Roundhouse tour tomorrow, especially since the facility is not normally open to the public.  Jerry Jacobson made a special exception for the NMRA group.

I will be visiting the show on Friday afternoon, the show's first day.  Turns out that an old friend of mine from some 40 years back, is an official of the NMRA show.  We got together these last few days and had a great time touring some RR "hot spots" around Cleveland that he wanted to photograph.  it was really great sharing "old times" about the East Troy Trolley Museum in Wisconsin where we spent some great years running big North Shore interurban cars for the general public.

I know that there won't be a lot of "0" gauge at this show, probably 90% Ho-Ho and "N" (nothing) gauge, but I will be looking for the occasional scale "0" car, locomotive or building that can be used on our more sensible 3 rail layouts.  Not too long ago, I bought a Bar Mills built up warehouse building that now occupies a prominent place on my Hi-Rail layout.

Does anyone know if OGR will be represented with a booth at this show?  How about some of our member suppliers?

Been there and done that.  Discovered one O scale structure kit builder I have never seen advertise, which is my usual benefit of attending these.  And Altoona Model Works was showing an HO model of the long Thurmond station in W.Va.  We were joking about the forthcoming O scale model that would probably be four feet long.

A chain-yanker was a company named Sylvan that was offering all these HO models

of pre-1940 trucks and cars I'd love to have, and not all Furds by a long shot..

1936 Chevy, '37 Chevy, 1936 Reo Flying Cloud four door, and many, many more.

Boy would I like to see that list for O scale.
