Need help finding a MTH part

Both Lionel and MTH have an issue with these bearings.  You will never get one from them even with an item number.    I see this often.  Here is what I would recommend.   First, see if anyone who advertises on the OGR Forum can come to your aid.  Second, if that does not happen, send me one of the bearings and I can match it for you with my supply.  Maybe some member will have a junker they can help you with.

Also, some of these parts - or workable replacements for them - can be fabricated on the workbench. So long as the axle stays in, does not wobble in the hole and the repair looks OK, it's fixed. Plastic or metal (brass; lead) will typically do it. The parts can be held in with Walthers Goo, for example.

I don't think the plastic slip-in bearing would be all that easy to fabricate at the workbench, I suspect he really wants the real thing.  Lionel sells those as parts, apparently the RK Allegheny just lists the whole trailing truck as a part.

Do it right and use the correct part.

Are the MTH part and Lionel part the same or close enough to be interchangeable?

Lionel has 8-10 of the same looking bearing, but differ in length, how far down the snap is, and other variables. For example, the Polar Express traditional version uses 3 different version for the front truck, trailing truck and tender.

Where did you find that number Chuck?  I looked around, but I couldn't find a number for it.  It sure looks like the right part, nice job.

The DC-0000002 is basically the standard Railking trailing truck bushing. Be it a 4-6-2, 4-6-4, 2-8-4, 2-6-6-6, etc.

Good to know Chuck, I never ordered one of those.  I happen to have a few of those in a parts box from a dead locomotive that got dropped.
