Hello everyone,
I just bought the PWCS #13150 re-issue of the 1964 773 Hudson set. It was jostled in shipping and the motor is actually laying loose inside the locomotive. Because the set is near mint I made a deal with the seller for a partial refund if I would take on making the repair. I'm pretty handy but it's not obvious to me how to remove the boiler on this one. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I only live a half hour away and have quite a bit of experience with Lionel Hudson's, if you need some help I'd be more than willing to lend a hand
Having a quick look through the K-line "Complete Service Manual", it indicates that there's three screws underneath holding the boiler to the chassis; one in front and two in the rear. Beyond that, I'd have to see the loco in person...

Mitch is correct. Remove the ash pan. You'll see two screws holding the rear of the boiler. Remove the leading truck. That is the third screw. I question the motor laying loose. There's no way is would vibrate loose and fall off. Perhaps the original owner had it apart.
