I am looking for some help finilizing the installation of Cruise Commander M.

First of all, I am installing it into a Lionel Santa Fe F3, 6-14536 TMCC (Odyssey) engine.  The magnetic ring on the flywheel was broken when I bought it.  This engine does not have the Cruise on/ off switch from the factory.  I've been able to install the cruise M to the chassis and splice the motor wires, etc.

My question is in regard to the serial data line.  My engine does not exactly match the SD-80 w/ Odyssey example provided in the instuctions.  My ten pin connector has a black wire at the #2 postion - but nothing in the #1 position.  I see that the kit comes with a 4 pin connector with two black wires.  Do I need to splice this into the serial data line?  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I live in Brighton, MI - if anyone in the metro Detroit area can help or provide a contact who could help me finalize my installation.  If needed I can also provide pictures - if it would be of any help?

Thanks,

Eric

Did you try calling Ken at ERR?  They will assist you if you call.

If your locomotive doesn't have a wire from pin 1 of the 10 pin connector, you'll have to add it.  That wire MUST connect to pin 24 of the R2LC for the CCM to function.  If you have that black wire on pin 10 of the DCDS, you can steal that wire and re-purpose it for the serial data.  As you can see in the instructions, you do NOT connect that wire on pin 10, so removing it won't be an issue.
