I have a DCS remote that has been upgraded to 4.20 version. Worked fine for over two months. Now it turns on ok, but as soon as I hit engine key or push the thumb wheel down - to select an engine - the remote goes blank. I have tried two sets of new batteries - no change. Springs and battery contacts are fine. What could be wrong? Thanks, Art

I'm not sure what you can do with this one other than re-load the software. It'd be pretty hard to reset it if the screen is blank, pull one battery and put it back in again just to make sure the thing is in the off position before starting the software
Question... when you first turn it on how long will the screen stat lighted if you don't press anything? Should be 60 minutes unless you've change the power down times.
Hi Gregg, The screen stays on for an hour. When I push thumb wheel down to select engine or push engine key down - screen goes blank.
Make sure the battery contacts are shiny. What kind of batteries are you using?
If you turn on the backlight, what happens? Keep any eye on the screen to see if "BAT" shows up briefly before the screen blanks.
When screen blanks, is remote still operating with the blank screen?
Try a simple test:
- Remove the battery compartment cover and ensure that the batteries are secure and laying flat. Leave the door off
- Turn on the remote
- Pres hard against the batteries to ensure that they don't shift as you press the thumbwheel or a key. If the remote stays on, the culprit is loose batteries.
RJR - Battery contacts are shinny. Using new alkaline batteries
When I press backlight - no "bat" shows up- screen goes blank
Can not use DCS at all!
Barry - Removed back - held batteries tight - remote still goes off when keys are pressed.
OK, so it's apparently not a battery contact issue. I would suggest one more test: put a voltmeter on batteries, turn on remote, then press a key & see what happens. This ight disclose a short.
If remote is in warranty, contact MTH. If not, I'd siggest opening it up for a visual inspection of wires, of boards properly seating, of pinched wires, etc.
Katy. Did you ever get this resolved?
