Need Help with Engine | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Hi All,

I just have a question.... My son is getting the MTH Western Maryland 734 for Christmas and I just took it out of the box for a test run and set up before the Big Night. This may sound odd but I don't know how to couple the engine and tender. It has a system that I have not seen. It has adraw bar with a hole in it with a small square that looks like pins connect in it and the tender has a rod that I assume goes down in the hole. If anyone can help I would appreciate it . A video would be great .

It should be in your instruction book.

Unfortunately, it is a generic instruction book and does not have specifics for that engine. I also went to MTH Website to look at the manual and they don't even have it on the site.

Lay the engine and tender on their sides near the track.

The connections to the newer steam engines are the same. Red arrows point to the square post.

When you fit the engine drawbar over the post, plug to tender.
