I just recently aquired a NOS PS1 diesel engine from 1994.  Unfortunately no instruction manual was in the box.  Isn't there a way to address sounds by using the horn and bell buttons while the engine is in reset mode?  I can't remember the various sequences and can't find anything on the web.

Thanks,

Stack

The following chart lists the available features found in your ProtoSound®
equipped engine. The default settings are listed for each feature as well as
the operation of the feature. You can reset all features to their original
factory settings by accessing Feature 18 in RESET and then pressing and
holding the transformer whistle button until you hear a soft, warbled bell
sound.
RESET # OPERATION DEFAULT CLANKS/CLINKS
6 Engine Volume Full Volume 1 Clank/1 Clinks
10 Coupler ON/OFF Coupler ON 2 Clanks/0 Clinks

I believe any PS1 engines will use the same horn/bell sequences for the functions.  So try using MTH website for PS1 engines (or input the MTH 20-xxxx or 30-xxxx number) and see if there is an online instruction manual.

Trickiest part that may have you saying unmentionable words is timing the rhythm of horn and bell for right time (not too long not too short).  See if you can find someone with a DCS system which has the "magic rhythm" programmed in to do the heavy lifting.

Thanks for the responses guys.  I can print this page for a referrence.  Joe; what is Softkey MPG?  The powered A unit has a switch underneath that reads Battery, ON-OFF.  Not sure what that means?  Since the engine is 20 years old, I installed a BCR and chucked the MTH battery in the garbage before even firing it up.  Currently, I have this switch set to "ON".

Stack,

MPG is PS1 programming mode.

Press TR softkey

Select which variable channel and press thumbwheel

Press S5 to find MPG

Press softkey under MPG

Scroll to feature you want to set

It will tell you what to do from there and do the voltage up and down for you. Otherwise, you have to raise the voltage up and down manually with your transformer.

Make sure your engine will run on the Variable channel first as a few PS1 engines have trouble with the variable and you may have to lower your voltage on the transformer.
