Diecast Direct has available some nifty step vans in 1:48 scale....REA, Charles Chips, unlettered, etc.....reasonably priced.

Also shown by the same mfr are some nice cement trucks in 1:50.....in the scale ballpark.

Also listed is a nifty aerial platform truck in 1:48....which would, perhaps, make a dandy vignette centerpiece....

For many years I have waited for someone to come out with 1/48 scale sized vehicles at a reasonable price. I actually gave up on 1/48 scale cars ever being produced years ago. In my opinion if a 1/43 car can cost less than ten dollars  then so should a 1/48 scale car. Yesterday I got a an email from Die Cast Direct and there is a company called Denver Die Cast that has a small selection of 1/48 scale vehicles for reasonable prices. They are 7.95 or 8.95 or 11.95 each or 44.95/49.95 for a set of 6 cars depending on which set or single car you want. (my number 4 key on my keyboard doesn't work so no dollar sign) My only question is I hope these vehicles are actually 1/48 and not 1/43 vehicles labeled as 1/48? I wonder if the Ford Panel Van is the same tooling that Menards used? If they are 1/48 sized I will definitely buy some.

They have a:

  • 1958 Plymouth Fury
  • 1957 Dodge Stepside Pickup
  • 1951 Ford Pickup
  • 1948 Ford Panel Van
  • 1947 Dodge Power wagon
  • Military 2.5 ton Canvas Troop Carrier
  • 1947 Dodge Military Power wagon
  • 2019 Dodge Ram Pickup

@dkdkrd : you sure have a lot of '4's in your post considering your 4 key doesn't work.  Sorry, but I enjoy finding these kinds of things.  No criticism implied at all.

Walt there is a second set of numbers to the right on my keyboard that includes the number 4. Most modern keyboards have these keys. It is the number 4 key above the letters that doesn't work. The other number 4 key does work. Thank God I have the other number keys or I would have had to run out and get a new keyboard.

Thanks for the information Bob. That makes sense.

Wow...

My original post is about 6 years passé.

Unfortunately, the links in the OP are also 6 years passé.

IOW, my OP is rather irrelevant to the moment re Die Cast Direct releases.

I'm amazed to see it resurrected.  (Scary, actually; those 6 years surely went FAST!)

Regardless, I have no idea what you're referring to re the "4's" issue????

One of the other posters was putting price info on vehicles into a post without a dollar sign.  He then parenthetically apologized for the lack of a dollar sign by stating that his keyboard "4" key (where the dollar sign is above the "4") was no longer working.  Despite that info, he still displayed some number "4s" in his explanation, but again had to explain that they came from his numeric keypad, not from his keyboard "4".  Clear as mud, right?

Chuck

And yeah, it is kind of amazing that threads dormant for many moons are suddenly resurrected, often for no real good reason!  And here I am, sustaining that resurrection.

dkdkrd, thanks for posting this thread even though it was some time ago. I never saw it back then, and actually stumbled across the thread a couple months ago or so, when searching for 1:48 scale vehicles. I was unaware Denver Diecast offered a modern era pickup truck until then either so I was pleasantly surprised to find this, particularly in 1:48, and especially in the ever shrinking number of O scale manufacturers. Anything that positively promotes O scale is a good thing imho.

@dkdkrd,

I was unaware of die cast direct until I saw this old thread.  I'll always search for posts on a current problem I'm having, and if it's close I'll resurrect it no matter how old it is, hoping that the additional discussion on it will help the next person.  The die cast direct site has some nice O gauge stuff on it from multiple sources.  I bookmarked it in my 'Trains' folder for future use.  Thanks.

For those whose layouts include military bases, the 1:48 Delivery Step Van could, with some repainting and decals, be a dead ringer for the "bread trucks" the US Air Force used for years in aircraft maintenance, civil engineering and inter-office mail delivery

The 1:43 Grumman Olson Delivery Step Van would also be, with repainting and decals, a dead ringer for those same types of Air Force "break trucks".
