I got something 2 say !    The most amazing thing about the new 2338 is that Lionel even made it at all!   Then, they got it right !   Some might complain that they didn't use bare plastic for the orange portion of the machine, but that wasn't ever going to happen because of the light issue.  As it is, I still had to put electrical tape on the inside of the shell in the radiator grill areas.  A terrific running engine, once she's broken in, which can take about three/four hours in each direction.  It will naturally run "better" long hood lead, and that is because of the motor dynamics.  So good that I bought a second one about a month after the first, and run them together - back 2 back!  The CB&Q  2328 is of the same quality.  U can improve the pulling power a bit by replacing the spring on the power truck P/U arm with one intended for the dummy truck P/U arms.  After decades of fakes, FARBS, rip-offs, and patent infringments...Lionel finally gave us PW freeks our beloved GEEP back !
