This came into one of our local stores and had the chance to buy it before it hit the shelves.
I was able to get it to run but the smoke unit was kaput, so into the shop.
I cleaned up all the parts in a warm soapy bath and toothbrush.
Motor commutator was cleaned and polished as well as tender pickup wheels.
Smoke unit rebuilt and everything reassembled.
Very nice original piece and runs like a champ. Now to find a place to run it...lol

It's the nicest one I have owned. I am hopefully going to find some space on the floor to set up track and run it.
Stamped MAY 56, hardwired version with one screw smoke/choo choo chassis.
