I came across a photo of this hopper and decided to paint one up. I don't know how many of these were out there or how long they were like this before they went to all black. I just thought it was cool.

That looks great.
Way cool, Dave. Any bets on how long it will be before MTH does these? Lynn? Kurt? Greenville Club boys? ORG editor.....Mr. Miller?
Very nice Dave.
Never saw this one in the North Bessemer yards. Lots of black and Blue.
but no Orange. Post the original picture if you can.
Tom,
Lynn is already on it. Kurt wants one. I just did one for myself using an MTH black one for a donor.
These are the 4 bays they are running now. I think the test fleet showed up in all orange then went to black. The blue/black treatment was done on this orange one.
Post the original picture if you can.
Coulda fooled me - I thought he DID post the original. Great re-paint Dave and great picture to show it off in.

Very nice!!!!

Bessemer experimented with all orange hoppers but found upkeep and cleaning of stains from the ore to be too much work. Thus going back to satin black / Blue.
David,
Maybe, Weaver would be interested in doing a custom run for your store. They could do them in (12) numbers. They should sell very well for you.
Mark,
Those hoppers are the rapid discharge hoppers. Nice looking but dangerous.
Dave
Kurt,
Sending you home with some paint and tape.
What next? A case of beer?
Beer???? Need you ask!!!
I am about to begin building a B&LE cab, the 1955.

David...you are one of those rare folks that seems to have an expert artistic eye for all aspects of this hobby. All of your work is just outstanding and this hopper is just another example!! This will go well with your steel mill complex!!
