The Milwaukee Lionel RRC has just sent out its latest club car, a traditional size Milwaukee Road flatcar with a load of automobile frames. The Milwaukee Road did, in fact, transport auto frames and other OEM parts for the automobile industry, but I think the frames were generally transported in boxcars rather than on flats. At least, I've never seen a photo of auto frames on a flatcar, but I could easily be corrected if somebody has a photo. Also, I've never seen a photo of a plain revenue flatcar in the yellow color scheme. Center-beam and bulkhead cars yes, and MOW, but ordinary flats were boxcar red. Nonetheless, it's a nice-looking car to put in a train of traditional size cars. The auto frame load is a bit different from what you usually see on model flatcars.
I'm hoping the MLRRC moves more toward scale size cars and correct configurations in the future. Last year's round roof boxcar was a highlight for me; it was a PRR riveted car rather than a correct model of the welded Milwaukee Road prototype, but it was close enough.
This photo was taken with my new DSLR and a macro lens. It's a lot better looking than the ones I've been taking with a pocket digital camera.
