The new 2014/15 Track & Power catalog shows new O48 & O60 "remote/command" switches due later this year.  What is the difference between these (i.e. O48 6-81949) and a O48 6-16830?  I am new to Fastrack and just bought some track and 2 of the 6-16830's for a Christmas layout I am building.  Will need a couple more switches but wasn't sure if I should consider these new ones or not.

There is no difference between the 6-16830 and the 6-81949.

Lionel originally had the 6-16830 which sold as a Command switch, they also sold a Remote only switch 6-12065 (an O48 Switch like the others). Since they both had a remote Lionel decided to use number 6-81949 and call it a Remote/Command switch and drop the Remote only switch.

As stock depletes of the 6-1xxxx numbers they'll drop them and just use the 6-8xxxx numbers.

Thanks J and Steve.  This clears it up as I was confused when I opened the 1st switch box and saw that it was command control and had the remote switch wired to it. Seems simpler to sell just one model that covers all uses (manual, remotely wired, or command control). I thought maybe the newer model had some possible mod for LCS or something.  Looks like the newer O72 and O60 ones are already at dealers - its just the O48's and O36's due to be in around Nov.
