Thanks to OGR for offering an affordable digital subscription . I just signed up.
After many years I had to let my CTT print subscription retire. I just couldn't justify the $40+ price given how much the content has shrunk.
Here is the letter I attempted to write to the editor but thier web site was not working so other than losing a subscriber they will not know why I left them.
To CTT editor:
Why is a digital version of your magazine so expensive? My print subscription recently expired and at about $40+ a year it's just too pricey for me to continue subscribing given the reduced content offered in the magazine these days.
I just registered with your competition OGR magazine for a digital subscription for under $20 a year.I'm going on vacation and I will be laying under a palm tree on Maui reading a years worth of back issues of OGR on my tablet.
I thought lets see about a digital subscription to CTT, I was surprised to see that you want about the same amount for a digital as a print subscription. Whats worse you should offer both at that price but nope, It costs even more to get print and digital.
CTT needs to realize that print magazines and newspapers have become very expensive. Digital is the future. I recently downgraded my Chicago Tribune from a $40 per month home delivery to a $10 Sunday delivery with 7 day digital. They get it.
I would like to become a subscriber to CTT again but until you offer a reduced price digital offering I'm afraid you have lost a subscriber.
Now I'm off to Hawaii where I will be relaxing and reading OGR, the Chicago Tribune, and Sun Times under a palm tree on the beach.
Aloha, Allan Reizman.
