Good morning:
I have the original MTH Railking N&W J 611. Can someone explain the difference in that product (size, detailing) and the new Imperial version?
That Railing J from so many years ago is still one of my favorites.
Thank you,
Paul

Thanks Gilly for the reply.
From the list you posted above there seems to be a few additional details that would make a difference. I look forward to seeing one in person before I decide if a new J is needed for the fleet

Did he leave out that the tender has the proper shape?
VERY NICE ENGINE, but I will stick with my Lionel 38095.
There is a Rail King Imperial J roaming around my railroad and it is a beauty. It runs well through 042 switches and on 042 curves which are the minimum mainline trackage of my railroad.
Did they ever fix the non roller bearing side rods on this engine? The Reading Co. rods look really dumb on this chooch !
Based upon the website picture, nope.
Paul, the Imperial is the way to go. I have the scale "J" and love the looks of the Imperial.
Bobby, thanks for the picture.
Marty, thanks for the input and suggestion. I have to believe Erol would also agree with the Imperial decision. I believe a Imperial J is certainly in my future.
lets see, if I sell that mint car, and then sell that hopper...

Paul,
I have an Imperial N & W J #608 that I purchased in 2005. It was my first MTH Imperial Steamer. (my first MTH engine was a NYC Hudson that was not an imperial model). As you know, I have said many times that Railking Imperial engines are the best bargain in the hobby. A semiscale Premiere detailed engine at a Railking price.
I would recommend you buy one. Interestingly, the current list price of $459.00 is only $10 more than the list price of the one I bought 10 years ago.
Erol
Hey Erol, I remember the first time you told me to look into Imperial Models. I may be slow to get aboard, but I'm getting there...
I haven't purchased a new steamer in over 10 years, looks like the time is right and the N&W J Imperial is the one. Thanks again gentlemen!
Paul
Paul, with friends like this, and given you haven't bought a new steamer in ten years, you need a dealer! I'd like to be yours! I have these preordered and I'd be happy to sell you one at a very good price. Email me when you have time and we can discuss.

Steve......
Steve, I love a good salesperson and you certainly are one of the best. I'm still working on paying off the Mega Order of Atlas F Units I placed with you a couple months ago. (Santa Fe's and Amtrak)
Although a new Steamer has not been seen around here in years, the amount of Diesel engines and rolling stock has more than made up for the shortage.
Thanks Steve, I'll be in touch. All the best.
Paul
Thank you, very much, Paul.
