I got this labelle passenger car for a song. It has a few missing/ broken parts. I have never constructed one of these kits before. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

I am thinking of making it an open ended car. Do I just leave off the ends?

Read the instructions several times and make sure that whichever part of them that applies to the specific car you are building is what you follow. Labelle frequently interlaces multiple sets of instructions for a set of cars.

Open ended cars actually do have ends that are inset from the end of the car making the platform. So no, you don't just leave off the ends - you have to move them in to make the platform area and make that so you can add the steps there along all the end railings.
