Anxiously waiting to see what direction Lionel will go. I'm wondering if they were surprised at how popular LionChief Plus has become and if they're prepared to expand the offerings in the next catalogue. The selections in the first run seemed kind of limited.

Personally I think LionChief Plus will/has lured a lot of conventional operators who've been primarily purchasing in the secondary market. I'm hoping to upgrade my MPC era Mighty Sound of Steam roster with LionChief Plus.

I believe there was a thread on this topic just a couple of days ago but it is one of my favorite areas to talk about.

I doubt if there will be any surprises, most likely varied road names possibly a 0-8-0 steam locomotive and new diesel engine line.  Because this line of trains is so successful, we might see some LionChief + train sets also.  As mentioned many times in past threads, Lionel is marketing these trains to attract new people to the hobby with some of the higher end features.  I doubt if we will see scale or articulated engines being released in this line.  Just enjoy what Lionel is releasing because they are enjoyable to operate.

You are right Steve, a BIG thread on LC+ that goes back several months & was added to quite a bit following last week's TCA convention.  Originally Posted by TexSpecial:

I'm guessing there will be no LionChief Plus in starter sets unless it takes over the entire market .  It's an extra expense that the vast majority of starter set buyers will not need since they don't already have a transformer.  It will be LionChief in the starter sets for the time being.

As for LionChief Plus I'm expecting a diverse array of steam and diesel locos, and perhaps an accessory or two (just guessing) in the 2015 catalog, based upon the enthusiastic reception of the existing models.  There might be one or two LionChief Plus premium sets (no track or transformer, obviously) in our future if my ouija board is still working.

I wish there were an LC+ starter set. I started researching model trains a few weeks ago and decided to piece together a system. I purchased everything separately...an LC+ loco, track kit, and passenger cars that belonged to another set. This may be overkill for a simple Christmas setup, but I've had a great time learning about model trains along the way. I'm already planning an N scale layout once I get moved into my new home.

I wanted something more than a toy-ish Christmas set but wasn't prepared to fork over $$$ for a Legacy system.

As I said in that old thread Lionel hit a home -run and i think they were not prepared for such a successful response!!

BUT

I don't blame them who was going to tell. When I saw the demo's on the Trainworld U-Tube I got excited and through my hat in the ring as I thought it was the best of both worlds for Dad's and Kids, who didn't want to get into the complexity of Legacy as well as the expense.

I own 3 of the Lion Chief Plus Loco's plan to buy a couple more and will buy 2 of the diesels when they come out.

My 10 year old absolutely loves it as we just set the transformer on a certain wattage and we can walk around the layout sit inour chairs and have a whole lot of fun!!

This is the shot in the arm the hobby needed.

The trainsounds and the syncd chuff with the smoke is a "high-fiver' alone. I can't say enough about it. The quality is very acceptable and packaged nicely nothing cheap about what Lionel did.

AND

it is affordable!!!!!!

Exactly.  I'd love to get one for my grandkids.  They love remote Thomas but will be a bit old for him in a couple of years.  I doubt they would welcome a set without the remote.  I could get normal LC but I'd prefer the better performance of LC+
