Just picked up the new catalog and it is better then viewing it online. Lots of stuff and big prices. There seems to be an engine for every taste out there be it steam or diesel. Some of the things I like are the CN trailer train, double door round roof box cars, PC RS11's, need power and dummy for those. The motor city train set is neat but it has a few problems I cannot get by. The CSX loco has too shallow of a fuel tank and for me the cars are just too big although they should be big hits. Lots of other things that catch my eye so we will see what other things I may buy. Check it out it is a very nice catalog.

Yes, it is a great catalog.  I have all of the Lionel ones dating to 1936 and they never cease being great fun to pick up and look at. Despite its many different corporate configurations and manufacturing locations over the years Lionel has to be one of the most enduring names and products of all time. And think of all the other companies it has inspired, especially in recent years.  Dick

Prices of everything is up in this country across the board.  Things are going to get even worse with gas prices on the rise.  Food, travel, airline, etc. prices are going through the roof.  What a great economy we are in, the biased media still tries to tell us that things are improving.  Well not here in Oregon.  18 business closed their doors in my town last month.

The truth is, those of you with jobs are very lucky indeed.

I also mentioned this on another forum . Its the value of the dollar behind these prices. Did you know that the same 20 cents which purchased a gallon of gasoline in the late 40's and 50's would still buy a gallon of gasoline today if you had the value of two silver dimes at todays value of about $2.30 each. Silver Dollars are about $25.00 each so today you would be able to purchase a $1000.00 engine for the same value of 40 silver dollars of the 40's or 50's. ETC. ETC.

I remember filling up the tank of my Camaro, in '68: each week I budgeted for the weekend -  14 gallons into my 16 gallon tank for $4.  Forty-four years later I drive a sports car that has twice that size of tank -and I filled up for the first time in two months (I don't drive it that much) with 29 gallons$1,200 loco, but I guess it is all the same inflation basically.
