All - I guess I have until May 5, before they shut down the pre-ordering of Lionel 2014 Signature Edition.  I have ordered a boat load of stuff, but there is one more thing left to order, and I can't make up my mind.  I,  like most, try to plan ahead, knowing that I will eventually get bored with my new set and look to sell it 6 months, thus repeating the process over again in 2015.  But I cannot make up my mind on this, so would really appreciate some feed back to what is you choice for 6 months of immortality on my crack layout.  Will it be the very nice Santa Fe War Bonnet paint scheme - AT&SF E8 part # 6-81219, (note - could not find any 18" Aluminum cars suitable for the engine in the catalog) OR the very red MKT E8 - part # 6-81234, The MKT has the full suite of accompanying followers including Vista Dome.  What say you?  Santa Fe or Red MKT both AA E8's.

I ordered the Santa Fe War Bonnet paint scheme - AT&SF E8 part # 6-81219. The Santa Fe handles my passenger operations and I have all of the Command Control Santa Fe F units since Lionel introduced TMCC.  Santa Fe 18" passenger cars are readily available from the main manufacturers.  Just takes a little searching.

I believe this is the first Legacy F/E engine with the Warbonnet paint scheme. So don't miss it.

Lee,

That is what I get for answering a post at 6:00am on a Sunday morning. Well my next piece of worthless advice is go with the girl you brought to the dance. If you collect Santa Fe go with that one. If you collect MKT go with that one. If you do not collect a specific road name get them both.

The fact is that the majority of people in our hobby love the Sante Fe road name and the Warbonnet design. Just about anything in this design sells well. That is why there is a steady supply of new introductions from all manufacturers with the Sante Fe road name.

Having said that, the Texas Special is just that, "special". The colors are just outstanding. Personally, I love them both equally. So it really comes down to your personal taste. If you are on the fence have have the resources, then order them both to be safe.
