Picked up my Lionel Heisler Steam Engine yesterday.  Only bad thing was the price for something so small!  HAHA.  Other than that a great little engine that goes perfect with my Logging Disconnect cars.

Here are some pics below and also a video on my youtube channel.  Enjoy!

Nice pics and video - thanks for sharing.  You mention having the Lionel (K-Line) 2-truck Shay.  If you get a chance, it would be great to see the Shay and the Heisler side-by-side.  I have the Shay, and can attest it's quite a bit over-sized, so it would be great if the Heisler tooling is a little more accurate.  Better yet, anybody have dimensions of the real thing for us to compare to?

Indeed... and to think I nixed plans to purchase a little MTH 0-4-0 earlier this year, because dealers wanted $625 or so for it.    So now we have street prices for this little jewel in the neighborhood of $1100???  WOW!!!

These Heislers are tempting only because I've never owned one yet, and Lionel's Legacy Railsounds gets two-thumbs up easily here.  Shays (Lionel) and Climaxes (MTH) seem to have more detail and visible gear movement though, which is why I've always been drawn to them over the Heislers.  And I'm also thankful I purchased my logging locos when prices were more reasonable.  The last MTH Climax I purchased (not that long ago) was a super deal from Sidetrack Hobbies at $600 or so.  And I didn't even need to ask... that was just their "sale" price.

The MTH Climax locos once carried an $1,100 MSRP, but MTH dropped the MRSP on the most recent production models down to $900.  Nice to see price movement in the right direction once and awhile.    But leave it to Lionel to push the envelope once again on these Heisler gems to a staggering $1,300 MSRP.

BTW, excellent craftsmanship on your layout, Sean.  Thanks for sharing the pics and video.  Enjoy your Heisler!  It looks great with those logging disconnects, too.

Yeah I never owned a Heisler and love the detail so I bit the bullet, but the prices are so high now I am only getting 2 engines this year.  The Heisler and the Reading T1.  I want others but its just too much money.  Plus I just got my M4 Memorial Day weekend and I still have to pay off this baby first, HAHA.  So here is some eye candy for you train guys that are car guys too!
