Perfect quality all around. Its nice that Lionel now distributes their product from their own Nascar warehouse in Concord NC...on to the dealers. The unit was packed in a USA Made Uline carton with the Lionel Labels on it (Charles Ro ships to me double boxed).

Very nice
Looks like Lionel got the colors correct---matching the postwar original engine.
There was some concern/discussion at York ( with Lionel reps ) about the catalog illustrations.
Mike, thanks for taking the time to post the pictures.

PS
Any word on the 2239W set???
Is this part of the A-B set with the frieght cars?
Rob
Are these part of the Scale PW series or Post War Celebration? Nice detail but the pilot appears to be a PW copy.
Sweet!

It's PWC, CC or whatever Lionel's calling it these days. It's not the scale F3.
The color looks a lot better for a postwar repro than the catalog image.

Looks nice!
Can't wait to get my set!
We have a nice of PW repros 2363 ABA available if anyone would be interested for sale or trade..
Was this just the engine, or a set with frieght cars?
Rob
Its the separate sale dummy that goes with the freight A-B set. Should the paint be very glossy?
Mike they look great, Enjoy them
Thanks, Alex
Mike
The finish looks perfect----flat/satin, very little sheen
Originals were not glossy
Thx

I like how Lionel is now calling these PW inspired. That is the most accurate description of these products to date.
Any word on when the complete set is due???
Thx
Joe S
Charles Ro shows it with an arrival date of 9/10.
Thats when the 1950 anniversary set is due as well. That was why I asked if it was the freight set.
Rob
AWESOME!!! There it is, and we'll have that big IC F3 A-B set after billions of
years. That A Unit looks most kool, and as an A-B-A , will trump all my other
F3 sets to date. Can't wait for the rest of the chooch....thanks for posting!!

Also talked about at York with the Lionel reps was the 6414 autoloader that is going to be part of the 2239W set.
They said they were looking into the packaging of the autos on the 6414 flat car. The last release of that car had the autos placed in/on clear plastic trays that were almost impossible to remove from the car.
Hopefully they will address this issue.
Thx

Very nice IC unit, but I really wish the brown color on it was closer to the actual darker chocolate brown that the prototype engines featured. I have seen the E-8's in service and after retirement at Paducah, KY, and they were a darker, richer brown than is seen on most models of them, including HO scale. The Westside Models E-8 A-B set in HO scale brass and the Lionel 8580/81/82 series in O scale got it right.

Well, being that it's supposed to be a reproduction of the 2363 and not an IC E8, it looks fine.
Lionel had a more accurate version in the 1980's in both color and paint masking, only then they put the lettering in the wrong place, on the side grills.

You're right of course, Rusty, it is a copy of the earlier 2363 locomotives, which will suit many modelers just fine. It's just a shame that the 2363's were not more prototypic when they were produced, especially in the matter of the main body color, which made the real locomotives so distinctive in their appearance.

The trouble is, Lionel took liberties on most of their paint schemes back then, probably more due to the painting and decorating technology of the time.

I CAN'T wait for this thing to hit.....you feelin' me on this one? Yoy, I want
TWO sets! ....For an A-B-B-A with four (count 'em) motors!
Quick question now that the full set is out---
Does the dummy A unit match the AB units in the set---colors etc.
I would think they should however the dummy's been out for quite a while now and the set has just been shipped
I'm picking up my set next week and my dealer asked me if I wanted the dummy unit also
Thx in advance
Joe S
From what I've seen, they appear to match. Odds are, all the shells were all painted at the same time. The set was probably waiting on something either with the freight cars or the drive mechanism.
