Can someone post a pic of this new engine? Particularly the front as I want to make sure they did the paint scheme correctly. Thanks.

I have been wanting to see one for myself as well because it didn't look like they painted the front correctly when looking at the catalog.
That's pretty cool this roadname is being made, I rode one of their ore/passenger train combos back in the 60's. Would love to see this model.
Bump
Is there anyone that has picked up this model lately and could provide us some pictures?
I don’t think these Built-To-Order models (1933251, 52 and 53) were ever released. Contact Lionel if you want to be certain of their status. @Dave Olson @Conrail6358

They have for been for sale at the major train dealers since the end of last year. Just surprised nobody seems to have one. I have been curious to see how they did the nose because the prototype has stripes but the image in the catalog doesn't.
The site I looked at had them still listed as a pre-order. That suggests they haven’t been released yet.
TrainWorld sent me an email saying they were in stock and on sale for $495.

Looks like some dealers have them now. All About Toy Trains is still showing them as a preorder.
I’m guessing not many were made in this scheme. Hopefully somebody on the forum bought one and will comment.
Trainz, for one, supposedly has them in stock and ready to ship. I too am curious to see how the finished product came out.
I decided I had to have one of these, even it was sight unseen. I originally ordered the Quebec North Shore and Labordor C44-9W #413 that is non-powered directly from Lionel. Once I received it, I decided I had to have a powered unit too. That was no easy task because there were never very many of them made and by this point they were pretty much sold out everywhere. There was one major dealer that still had them but they wanted the full MSRP. I got a great deal on the #407 powered unit from CT Trains / C.T. McCormick Hardware. They were great to deal with.

The one thing that really stood out to me about the powered QNSL engine was the horn and crew talk were different than my NS 8520 C44-9W.

When they say BUILT TO ORDER, remember that if you do not order it, it will not be built.

3RD RAIL is going to be producing new models of the DASH 9 or C44-9W.
You could request that Scott Mann have the Q,NS&L DASH 9 produced in this run by ordering 2 or 3 road numbers.

I know I am late to the party but are these locomotives available anywhere?
UPDATE just ordered one from TrainWorld. I ordered it right away. I missed out on a Providence and Worcester SD70 by hesitating a day... Not this time with this locomotive!
Thanks for the heads up on TrainWorld!
The good news is that my new Lionel QUEBEC NORTH SHORE & LABRADOR LEGACY C44-9W #407 has shipped from TrainWorld. The bad news for anyone that wanted one is that I just purchased the last one. You really can't goof around in this BTO market. If you want a particular locomotive, order it. If you miss that and get lucky to find it available at a dealer, buy it and don't wait.

I dunno. You goofed around for an entire year and still got one.

Ha! I didn’t know that it existed until three days ago! Do you know where there’s another one?
Looks like Nicholas Smith may have one in stock.

Buy any chance did you see if they had the Providence and Worcester SD70? Thanks!

FYI........just saw a non powered QUEBEC NORTH SHORE & LABRADOR LEGACY C44-9W listed on ebay.

I did not see that P&W.
Got a P & D of these QNS&L engines early last fall from TW. To me, just too sharp to pass up. At the time they were the only dealer that had any left, although they were asking full retail.
Better jump on that dummy. Pretty odd it happened to come up for sale at this time. It would probably be a long while before you see another one.
I wanted a caboose to go with the engines, but none were made for them, not surprisingly. After hunting around, picked up one of these Lionel jobs. As close a match as I could find - pretty good (to me, at least).

That is sharp! I have some unpainted 6464 boxcars I would like to convert to the QNS and L theme. The caboose is a good template!
