New Lionel Rock Island Alcos anybody?

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone received the new re-make of the Postwar Lionel Rock Island Alcos? If so, what is your impression relative to the originals? I was thinking of purchasing this pair for my father since he had the originals as a kid, but I would really like to know how well they actually compare. I could only find one photo of the new units online, but I really can't make out any detail. The color of the red looks rather dark/dull in the photo too but I remember the originals being very bright & glossy.

Yes, I’d be interested in hearing about these myself. And, based on the threads earlier this year when the various “Postwar Inspired” Alcos were announced in the latest catalog, I have a feeling they’ll be quite the conversation piece here on the forum.

The UP Anniversary set is (currently) set to ship in October followed by the Navy Alco set.

Williams has them, too. I could only get a real pic of the Santa Fe 0-27 units, the body would be the same but with the black/red paint scheme. Western Depot has the pair for $200
